Stupendous 6s Round 1 Fight 31

Amos Lincoln (level 5) (4-2 4) vs. Fres Oquendo – They alternated hard shots in a crowd-pleasing opener. Lincoln’s piston-driven hook dazed Fres briefly, and Amos poured enough other punches in to take command, 13-8. Fast Fres was just that in the 2nd, keeping Amos at bay and sealing the round with a sweet straight right, 9-6. Lincoln landed 24 times in the 3rd, Fres got in a gonzo right, but Amos may have pulled it out, 9-8.

Lincoln stepped inside for the 4th, and manhandled Oquendo. He rocked him with a hook and a jarring combination, landing 41 times in all, his crosses beating a rat-a-tat rhythm, carving out a huge 18-2 round! Amos stayed inside in the 5th, but Fres ducked and slipped nicely in the first minute. Lincoln was warned for holding and hitting, then started landing his hooks and crosses. 41 times he found his target, and Fres had his left eye swelling up. Looking exhausted, he did get a straight right in to minimize the pain, but was on the south side of a 15-6 score!

Oquendo needed a round, and bounced back in the 6th. Lincoln landed 26 times, but Fres was answering, and may have pulled it out, 11-9, with a big uppercut at the bell! Fres started fast in the 7th, but Lincoln started to find the range with crosses and combinations. A hellacious cross slowed Fres down, and his swelling was getting worse. Amos staggered him with a searing combination, then just punched away, landing 41 times, to run away with the round, 23-10. Oquendo’s eye was now half-shut.

The gallant Puerto Rican tried to rally in the 8th, but was floored by a wicked combination. Up at the count of 6, he covered up and avoided further damage, but another round had slipped away, 11-2. Fres got a crisp cross in to take the 9th, 8-4, but it seemed like too little, too late!

Amos fired a no-see-em hook to open the 10th. Fres never saw it, and dropped for a 3 count. Fres tried to cover up, but Lincoln ripped through his defenses with a savage combination and Fres flopped! Game, he was somehow up at the count of 9, but on Bink Street! Amos measured him, rocking him into the ropes with a sonic cross, then dropping him for the third time with another 5 punch combination! Oquendo struggled mightily and made it up at the count of 8. The round ended, a cakewalk for Lincoln, 29-3, and the fans cheered Lincoln for his slugging and Oquendo for his guttiness.

Amos had landed 269 times and had the 4 KDs, so the decision was a foregone conclusion, a 97-89, 95-91 & 97-89 easy win for Amos Lincoln. Another Level 5 fighter had posted a very impressive showing!
