Genaro (left) was the American and NBA World Flyweight Champion. This light hitting technician fought 131 times over a 14 year period. During his career his victories included those against Pancho Villa, Bud Taylor, Memphis Pal Moore, Bushy Graham, Kid Williams and Frenchy Belanger.

Salavarria held both WBC and WBA versions of the 'World Flyweight crown'. He took the WBC title from Chartchai Chionoi before being stripped by the organisation for use of amphetamines during the bout. Four years later he took the WBA version after outpointing Susumu Hanagata, thereafter he made one successful defence before being stopped by Alfonso Lopez.
