· Waters was a 5-2 favorite.
· Rounds 1 and 2 were fought on fairly even terms. The fight turned in Montana’s favor after Waters sustained a “bad” cut to his right eyelid in round 3.
· The crowd was on their fight cheering wildly after the light punching Waters (only 4 early stoppage wins in 19 fights) planted a right on the forehead of Montana that sent the Mexican to the canvas face first!
· The cut eyelid was bleeding again in round 5 and causing Waters problems with his vision.
· In round 7 Waters was sent to the canvas, where he struggled to rise when referee, Billy Males, count reached 8. When the eyelid of Waters was spouting blood in round 8 the referee was forced to stop the contest.
· The all action punching Saul Montana will return to Australia next month and attempt to upset WBC title holder Jeff Harding.
