At the risk of sounding contrarian, I'm not sure the advice here is quite correct.
AFAIK, the option in League setup is whether or not to allow you to trade recent draftees (meaning players that you just drafted), not draft picks (meaning your slot in the drafting process). I don't believe there is any way in OOTP to trade away draft picks (meaning the latter). Hope that adds clarity and not confusion.
