REDS MEET YANKEES IN WORLD SERIES

The Yankees are taking on the Reds in the 1961 World Series. Normally the Yanks would be heavy favorites, but their pitching staff is racked with injuries. Veteran left hander Whitey Ford has been out most of the season, and it does not look like he will return until spring training also out of action is young Bill Stafford but manager Ralph Houk hopes to have him back in action soon.
The Reds Jim Maloney came in and shut the Yankees down in Game 1 of the 1961 World Series
Maloney got the win against the Yankees in Game 1.
