Like many are saying, how about a version that plays like it is suppose to instead of having months of waiting for patches?

If the new version has new code for something else that also allows a fix to an existing issue it's not very easy releasing that fix to the previous version. I doubt if Microsoft found something whilst coding Windows 7 that fixed an issue in Vista they would spend time trying to code it back into Vista especially as the code bases would be different.
