21st MARCH 1980 WBF NIGHT OF BOXING PRESENTS:
MAIN EVENT 1
HULK HOGAN VS THE BIG BOSSMANffice ffice" />>>
Hogan goes into this match hoping for an impressive display, as he is working his way to the #1 contenders spot, his performance here will lay the foundations for his future bid to become the WBF World Heavyweight Champion. The Bossman losing to Mr Perfect back in January, has remarked that he has trained harder and longer than any fight before this, he is looking to put right what mistakes he made in his last bout and prove to the WBF that he has what it takes.>>
> >
Prediction: The Bossman was smacked around by Mr Perfect, literally, although he went most of the distance, he was knocked down twice and then again in round 11 to lose by KO, The Bossman attributes this loss to lack of stamina, and although he did deliver the occasional hard hit to Mr Perfect, it wasn’t hard enough, he is set to face a bigger, stronger opponent in Hogan, and The Bossmans hard hit’s are sure to be just a tickle to Hogan, as Hogan then unloads his own array of power shots that when connected will knock The Bossman out of the arena. I think it will take a few rounds for Hogan to find his rhythm but I can’t see The Bossman winning and predict a stoppage in Round 7.>>

MAIN EVENT 2
ROWDY RODDY PIPER VS MR T>>
> >
After the last meeting, Piper scraped through a controversial victory, this bout is to set the record straight, Piper or Mr T. The last fight indicated that Mr T had the edge but tired towards the end; Piper started slowly but prevailed and took the fight back to Mr T towards the end of the fight. Many thought it was unjustified and that the victory clearly should have been awarded to Mr T. The anticipated re-match should clear up the controversy.>>
> >
Predication: I see Mr T walking away the victor here, he controlled most of there previous fight, but he was obviously looking for the knockout right from the bell of round 1, which forced him to make sloppy mistakes and he caught many shots from Piper. If he adopts a slightly different strategy and was more cautious, I think he will win this fight. Piper, although has amazing stamina and can take lots of punishment, relies too much on the other fighter running out of steam in which he pounces, but if Mr T reserves his energy I cant see a points win for Piper. Piper’s only real strategy is take the fight to his opponent from the bell and force Mr T to fight at the pace he did in the first fight thus reducing his stamina.>>

Owen Hart vs The Mountie>>
> >
Debut fight for one of Stu Harts new recruits, he takes on The Mountie, The Mountie who has had a rough start to his Boxing career is still looking to settle into his rhythm. The slugger is capable of throwing effective punches, but as his past fights show, he loses balance when throwing big ones and is countered time and time again. Has he learned his lesson? Who knows, Owen who will obviously go in all guns blazing as some brand new fighters do, will look to control the fight very quickly. Stu who commented that Owen has good intelligence and is fast. Can he outwit the Mountie? I think so.>>

Prediction: Owen via stoppage.>>

Preliminary first bout>>

Marty Jannetty v Bob Backlund>>
> >
Boy oh boy they threw Marty straight in the deep end in this fight, he will be taking on seasoned veteran Bob Backlund. Bob who has yet to find his feet in the WBF, is a former champion for the World Championship Boxing organisation, moved to the WBF three years ago and has yet to win a significant fight. His first two fights put him straight in the running for the title, yet he was stopped by Roddy Piper in a gruelling 12 round fight. Backlund displayed he had heart, but was unable to land anything that hurt Piper. This loss pushed him back down the ranks and he is now looking to re climb the ladder in which some suggest is his last big run. Jannetty a brand new quick fighter, is looking to start his career in the WBF on a high, as experienced as Backlund is, he is considerably slower than his younger opponent and may not be able to keep up with him. This fight obviously a warm up for Backlund and the odds are on in his favour, but Backlund could underestimate his young opponent and Jannettys trainer has predicted a bright future for his fighter.>>

Prediction: Backlund UD>>

Preliminary second bout.>>

Bret Hart vs. Tito Santana>>
> >
Another youngster from Stu Hart’s promotion takes off with his first bout against Tito Santana. Tito who has had a few good and bad fights for the WBF comes back after a one year break to start his road to the title. Tito’s last fight against Rick Martel from his same stable ended bad for Tito as a cut forced the stoppage. Tito who is very prone to cuts decided to take a break and now returns to challenge for the title. Bret the newcomer starts of hoping for a decent win over Tito and building his reputation. ‘ I wanna hold the gold one day, I truly am the excellence of execution of boxing’, in a recent interview with Stu Hart, he said that Bret held similarities to Mr Perfect and that when Bret reaches his prime, he will prove more than a match for any opponent. So is this the start of something good? I hope so.>>
> >
Prediction: Bret Hart by either a cut or UD>>

Preliminary Third Bout>>
> >
Superstar Billy Graham vs. Iron Sheik>>
> >
Billy Graham returned to the WBF in January stating that he was not done yet. His similarities with Hulk Hogan are uncanny, however Billy is the more experienced. Iron Sheik an aging legend with us, is winding down his career with the WBF. Stating back in January that this was to be his last year in Boxing and that he only wants to walk away on a high, agreed to fight Graham last month. The match up is probably even as Billy Graham has not fought for over year and is maybe rusty, Sheik who is aging and inconsistent probably doesn’t have much left anyway.>>
> >
Prediction: Graham by stoppage.>>
