Haren takes home Cy Young
As expected, D-Rays ace wins pitching award

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Baseball's only 20-game winner in 2008 took home the award many had expected he would win.

Danny Haren of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays won the 2008 American League Cy Young Award today, capping off a fine season for the right-hander. Haren went 21-5 with a 2.48 ERA in 31 starts this year.

It is the eighth time in the last 10 years that a Tampa Bay pitcher has won the award, with six of the previous seven wins going to Pedro Martinez. John Stephens won the Cy Young for the Devil Rays in 2004.
