A walk that should have been a strike out can make a big difference. They go both ways though, and I don't buy the "ump cost us the game" argument.
I agree it was a terrible call made by a guy who has one job in the game and did it wrong. He should be fined, disciplined or whatever. Bucknor's blown call was just as bad. Baseball should do whatever it can to fix the problem.
But with Mauer on second, Kubel is walked to keep the double play option. I still think the end results is bases loaded nobody out either way.
