Lilly throws no-hitter
Detroit can't muster any offense
July 4, 2009
MINNEAPOLIS — It was a game that all pitchers dream about: a no-hitter.
It happened today at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
Ted Lilly of the Minnesota Twins was right on target against the Detroit Tigers in his 2-0 victory. He really zeroed in on them, holding them hitless with five strikeouts and five walks.
Lilly said he just had it all today: "Very good stuff and great location, a combination that's hard to beat."
This season Lilly has worked 106 2/3 innings with 95 strikeouts en route to a 9-6 record and a 3.97 ERA.
