Nationals All Alone in 1st!!

August 1, 1871

The Washington Nationals capitalized on a poor month by Chicago and took sole possession of 1st place. Washington took a 3 game lead in the standings by going 3 and 1. The White Stockings dropped into a 2nd place tie with Baltimore and Boston by going winless in July.

Greene extends streak to 18!

Baltimore Canaries' 3B Errol Greene continued his hitting streak through the month of July. He has hit safely in Baltimore's first 18 games. Unfortunately, Washington's Patrick Stanley ended his streak on July 7th, going hitless against Chicago.

Cincinnati's Chris Baker is having a great first season. Baker went 11 for 16 in July compiling a .688 BA, along with 6 RBIs. Baker is also leading the ABC with a .472 BA this season.

SP Red Bishop - Boston Red Stockings

With a 3-1 record and a 1.53 ERA in July, Red Bishop captured the Pitcher of the Month award. Not only is Bishop winning awards, he's helping the Red Stockings rise in the standings to 2nd place.
