As baseball's professional organized leagues finally come together under one administration, the 1901 season begins with high hopes by all. Very competitive races are witnessed in both leagues. While the wrinkles are being ironed out in league offices, it seems the players havent missed a beat while acquiring new administration.

Detroit's Tigers ride the highest scoring offense and the stingiest pitching staff to the American flag while Pittsburgh rides Rube Waddell's 25-8 record to the National flag, outlasting the Giants of Gotham in a very tight NL.

May 21, 1901 -

Socks Seybold of Pittsburgh goes 6 for 7 in a win over New York.

July 3, 1901 -

Yankee backstop Heinie Peitz hits for the cycle against the Philadelphia Athletics.

4 different hitting streaks of greater than 20 games are put up, led by Chick Stahl's 28 game streak for the Phillies.

Pittsburgh and Detroit clash in the '01 Series as the Pirates ride the arm of Rube Waddell to a 4 games to 1 victory of the Motor City Kitties. Waddell's '01 campaign earns him NL Pitcher of the Year accolades.

On to the 1902 amateur player draft! The first of its kinds in professional baseball as most of the players not earning a paycheck on the diamond will be hoping to catch on with a club in a paying job.

Minor League Update:

Jersey City Skeeters over Milwaukee Brewers in the AAA Series.

Knoxville Smokies over Pittsfield Hillies in the AA Series.
