Second Season Underway!
April 1, 1872
Inaugural Opening Day Recaps:
Baltimroe Canaries - 3
Cincinnati Reds - 6
LF Clarence Williams - Cincinnati Reds

Clarence Williams wins Player of the Game honors on Opening Day by going 3 for 5 and scoring 4 runs. He scored on a wild pitch in the 1st inning after reach base on an error. He scored again in the 3rd on a Chris Baker single. Then in the bottom of the 4th, Williams doubled to knock in a run then scored on a Scott Newton single. He's scored his 4th run in the 6th.
Washington Nationals - 1
New York Mutuals - 12
C Jose Ramirez - New York Mutuals

The Mutuals started out the 1872 season on the right foot with a dominating victory over the defending champions, the Washington Nationals. Jose Ramirez was a major contributor towards that victory. He went 2 for 4 with 5 RBIs.
Chicago White Stockings - 2
Boston Red Stockings - 7
SP Red Bishop

Last year's Pitcher of the Year got off to a great start here in 1872 with a complete game against the White Stockings. Holding Chicago scoreless for the first 5 innings helped Boston win 7-2.
Philadelphia Keystones - 11
Buffalo Bisons - 4
3B Cisco Mendoza

Maybe Baseball America was right about Mendoza as he starts the 1872 season going 4 for 5, knocking in 1 run while scoring twice.
