Philadelphia Pulls Even With Baltimore

September 1, 1872

Capitalizing on the Canaries' 2-2 month, the Keystones pulled into a 1st place tie by winning 3 of 4 in August. Baltimore and Philadelphia have a 3 game lead on the rest of the league with 6 games to play.

SP Dan Hughes - Philadelphia Keystones

This 38 year old is showing the young guys how to get it done. With his 3-1 record in August, Hughes was a major contributor towards Philadelphia's return to the top of the standings.

Batter of the Month
C Doug Sharman - Baltimore Canaries

Sharman has come out of no where to claim August's Batter of the Year Award. He started the season 6 for 30 before going 9 for 17 this month. He also scored 4 runs.

Rookie of the Month
LF Jaime Valentin - Chicago White Stockings

It's back to back months for Valentin. He earned himself another RotM award by hitting .500 in August.
