You obviously do not have an over abundance of faith in the OOTP AI:P.
I always assumed the many coach decisions available to a OOTP user even with
coaches turned off simply represented the AI's best guess, the same way every AI run team works in the game. Hopefully that meant the AI judged the teams strengths/weaknesses at least somewhat, but even if it did not it is still a helpful feature for a user who is not interested in micro management. It seems like this "bug-fix" is actually a removal of a feature that is common in many simulations:/.
