1873 Schedule Moves to 56 Games

January 31, 1873

Given the success of the league across the cities where they play, the American Baseball Congress has expanded their schedule to 56 games. Teams will play in 28 2-game series. The first game of each series will be on Friday and the second game will be the following Wednesday. This means each team will play each other 8 times during the season.
