April 1873 in The Books!

May 1, 1873

Through the first month of the season, no one in the ABC has shown to be the dominant team. Only 2 games separate all of the teams after 8 games.

Standings through April 30, 1873

Code:
Team W L PCT GB
Baltimore Canaries 5 3 .625 -
Brooklyn Atlantics 5 3 .625 -
New York Mutuals 5 3 .625 -
Boston Red Stockings 4 4 .500 1.0
Chicago White Stockings 4 4 .500 1.0
Cincinnati Reds 3 5 .375 2.0
Philadelphia Keystones 3 5 .375 2.0
Washington Nationals 3 5 .375 2.0
Rookie of the Month
CF Lloyd Drew - Cincinnati Reds

Drew hit .412 this month and had 5 runs batted in on his way to the Rookie of the Month award.

Pitcher of the Month
SP Jonathan Starr - New York Mutuals

Starr not only had a good Opening Day, he continued his winning ways the rest of the month. He went 4-0, with a 1.23 ERA in April.

Batter of the Month
CF Mike Elmore - New York Mutuals

Looks like Mike Elmore is giving it his all this year since he could be a free agent at the end of the year. Elmore hit .400, knocked in 6 runs and scored 8 times to win the Batter of the Month for April.
