In today's battle between two bitter division rivals,the San Francisco Giants used the long ball to sink the visiting Reds 2-1 here at Candlestick Park.Entering the 6th inning still scoreless,the Giants got on the board first thanks to a Chile Davis solo homer off of Reds starter Joe Price making it 1-0 San Francisco.The lead was short lived however,as the Reds tied the game on a Pete Rose RBI single making it 1-1 after 7.The game would remain deadlocked at one into the bottom of the 10th,where Giants LF Rob Deer led off the inning with a solo blast to left off of Reds reliever John Stupor(0-1),giving San Francisco the 2-1 victory.

Thanks to another big day from Harold Baines,who went 3 for 5 with 2 homers,3 RBI and 2 runs scored the White Sox defeated the Yankeees 5-4 for their 7th win in a row,keeping them within a game and a half of the Mariners who are also on a 7 game win streak.
