W: A. Orth (15-9) L: B. Lawrence (13-11)
HR - LA: M. Donlin (30) WIC: H. Collins (6) |
The red-hot Brian Lawrence - August's Southern League Pitcher of the Month - throws well after giving up three in the third, buying enough time for Mike Donlin to blast a three-run shot off Al Orth in the top of the 8th. But Lawrence gives up a leadoff double to Buddy Kerr in the 8th, and Mark Buehrle throws gas on the fire, allowing a 3-run homer to Hub Collins to seal it for Wichita.
