The Idols may be making a statement here, taking two of three in Wichita.
John Clarkson outduels Johnny Schmitz, who had gone unbeaten since entering the rotation in July. Benjamin Boyd had three hits and an RBI for Los Angeles in the win.

The loss of Buck Freeman is offset by replacement Carlos Pena, who homers in his first start since his callup. Al Javery struck out 11 in the complete game effort, during which New York's Roger Connor left with a pulled back muscle. He's listed as day-to-day.

Noodles Hahn allowed six runs for San Antonio, which overcame his effort with a two-run homer from Jeremy Hermida off Brad Lidge in the 9th to tie it, setting the stage for Michael Young's two-out RBI double to win it in the 11th.

The Racers scored four runs early and Edinson Volquez made it stand up as Louisville picks up ground on New York and pushes Alabama six games out in the Southern League's East division.
