Despite the heroics of Dale Murphy,who went 3 for 6 with 2 doubles,a home run,6 RBI and 2 runs scored,the Atlanta Braves lost to the New York Mets 14-13 on a Keith Hernandez RBI single in the top of the 9th off of Braves reliever Jeff Dedmon(0-1).Leading the charge for the Mets was RF Darryl Strawberry,who went 2 for 5 with 2 homers,6 RBI and 2 runs scored,and CF Mookie Wilson who went 4 for 6 with 2 doubles,a stolen base,2 RBI and 3 runs scored.On the hill,Joe Sambito(2-0) pitched two innings of relief to get the win,while Jesse Orosco got the save,his 6th.With the win,the Mets have overtaken the Chicago Cubs to move into 1st place in the NL East.
Today's Injuries
Astros LF Jose Cruz has torn ligaments in his left thumb and will be out of action for 4-5 weeks.
Yankees speedster Rickey Henderson will be out of the lineup for about 6 days with tightness in his groin.
Mets RF Danny Heep will be out for about 2 weeks with a sore right ankle.

Since ending April with a record of 7-12,the St Louis Cardinals have been virtually unbeatable,winning 10 of their 11 games in the month of May.Today's game was no different,as the Cardinals defeated the Padres 3-1 on a stunning pitching performance by Joaquin Andujar(3-2),who allowed just 1 run on 4 hits over 8 and a third while walking 3 and striking out 5.From there,it was all Joe Lahti,who was money once again,locking up his 9th save of the season.
