Clinging to a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 8th,the Brewers got a clutch 2 run double by Cecil Cooper to make it a 4-1 game and give closer Rollie Fingers a little more breathing room,and although Fingers did allow a two out run,he induced a Mike Heath fly out to end the game and give Milwaukee the 4-2 win.Starting and getting the win for the Brewers was Teddy Higuera(3-2),who went 8 solid innings,allowing 1 run on 6 hits while walking 1 and striking out 10.Don Sutton(2-4) took the loss for Oakland.
Today's Injuries
Giants catcher Bob Brenley was hit by a pitch in today's game and will be out for 4 days with a bruised shoulder.
Mariners RF Ivan Calderon has a grade II oblique strain and will be out of the lineup for 3-4 weeks.
Cardinals closer Jeff Lahti will be out of action for up to 4 months with what's being described as an impingement of his right shoulder.

Giants starting pitcher Atlee Hammaker(3-4) was on fire today,going the distance and blanking the Pirates on 2 hits in an 11-0 whitewashing here at Candlestick Park.
