MLB Game Of The Day
Thursday May 16,1985
AT
The Astrodome,Houston,Tx.

Trailing 2-1 in the top of the 9th,the Mets took advantage of a wild Dave Smith(0-4),loading the bases with one out for pinch hitter Clint Hurdle who tied the game with an RBI single to right, setting the stage for George Foster, who walked on 5 pitches to score Lenny Dykstra and give New York the eventual 3-2 win.For Smith, who now has 4 blown saves it was another miserable night,as he allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks in just 1 inning, dropping his record to 0-4.

Today's Injuries
Royals 1B Dane Iorg has a viral infection and will be out for about a week.

Twins C Mark Salas fractured his thumb while making a play at the plate in today's game against Detroit. He'll be out for 2-3 weeks.

MLB News And Notes
Phillies starter Steve Carlton still has a little magic left, the 40 year old veteran held the Braves to just 5 hits and 1 walk in a complete game 4-0 shutout victory.
