HR - LOU: M. Cuddyer (1)
Fresh off the news that Roy Oswalt was suspended for the rest of the season, Louisville - already down Dan Brouthers - started the attempt to drag itself across the finish line with a brilliant outing from Edinson Volquez, who threw complete game 3-hit shutout, fanning five and getting support via a homer from Michael Cuddyer and three hits from Lefty Marr. Volquez hit Dan McGann in the fourth, drawing a glare but nothing else. McGann hit the homer that preceded the brawl that sparked Oswalt's suspension yesterday.

The Heroes kept the pace, rallying with five in the 8th to win. New York capitalized on a John Beckwith error, scoring three unearned runs as they stormed back. Jim Viox hit a 2-run single to put New York ahead.

Pete Browning's fifth-inning grand slam off Erik Bedard stood up as Orlando officially eliminated Memphis from the division race. Ryan Braun homered in the 7th and Ty Wigginton hit a 2-run single in the 8th. Braun then singled, moving pinch runner Ichiro Suzuki to third with the tying run, but Carlos Quentin grounded out to short to end the inning, and the threat.

Rich Harden threw arguably the best game any pitcher has thrown this season, a complete game 2-hitter, striking out nine while walking none to outduel John Lackey in a battle down in Louisiana. George Wright and Rocco Baldelli drove in the runs for New Orleans.
