MW: Joey Giardello 6-0 UD 8 Takaaki Hara
This young, fast middleweight did most things right and scored a wide decision victory.
LW: Orlando Zulueta 13-0 (1) UD 8 Mark Stone 12-8 (8)
A stylistically tough fight for the cuban against someone who punches harder than himselves. His chin is a big weakness, though, and Zulueta scored a KD in the 5th and in general did very well, was never hurt, and only lost one round. Zulueta moves to #9 in the lightweight division.
BW: Van Thomas 9-6-4 (2) TKO 8 (inj) Luis Romero 21-2 (13)
Shocker! Romero looked in control of proceedings, and had won all rounds, even though he got a point detucted in the 3rd for a headbutt. Only until the 5th though, where he hurt his rib badly. He fought his best but had to give up in the 8th and final round. Romero moves from #2 to #14 in the bantamweight division.
HW: Keene Simmons 12-6-2 (6) KO 7 Bob Dunlap 11-1 (4)
Another shock! Dunlap was very unimpressive all the way through and both fighters were hurt in a surprisingly even fight. In a dull 7th, one hard cross shut the lights for Dunlap, who moves from #5 to #17 in the heavyweight rankings.
LW: Danny Webb 14-5-2 (6) KO 3 Henry Davis 20-1 (3)
What is going on here? Yet another massive upset to a fight that looked like a mismatch the other way around, going in. After two feeling out rounds, Webb needed one opening to land a big combination that Davis just couldn't recover from. One of the brightest young talents loses his undefeated record and moves from #2 to #14 in the ranks.
WW: Frankie Fernandez 24-1 (12) TKO 8 (cuts) James Harrington 10-10-5 (2)
Fernandez did everything right, battering Harrington from the start and swelling up his eye all the way through until he was blinded by it and the referee stepped in to end the fight. Fernandez is still #2 in the welterweight division.
