I can't for the life of me see why this is illegal. What's different about relaying it to the dugout live or getting the video from mlb.com and then trying to decode it after the game ready for the next one? What if the 2B/SS works it out and then relays it audibly to his team-mates? Should fielders have to face away from the catcher until they hear a noise of ball on bat or ball in glove?

If you're going to make signs during the game then they're fair game for being stolen.
