The ALCS had a lot more drama, IMO. That series could have gone seven, had ARod not hit that home run off Fuentes (on an 0-2 pitch, BTW). Couple of observations:

1. I had more than enough close-up shots of the managers. Neither one of them showed too much reaction. Manuel kept chomping the gum. Girardi kept a poker face. Big deal.

2. I would be embarrassed as a home plate umpire. For the most part, the hitters and pitchers who complained about balls and strikes had good reason to complain. They could usually tell when an umpire missed a call. I could usually tell -- at first glance -- when an umpire missed a call. The replay usually confirmed that an umpire had missed a call. So, how can the umpire, who is in the best position, miss so many balls and strikes?

3. I was surprised by the poor performance of the Philadelphia outfielders. It didn't get mentioned much during the broadcasts, though. Poor throws to home plate from the OF, Ibanez failing to catch the deep fly ball in LCF in game 5. Victorino misplaying a ball in game 6. New York played nearly flawless defense, though.

4. The best team won. NY had the better starting pitchers, better clutch hitting, better defense, and Mariano Rivera. No contest, really.
