June 2012 - Winnipeg Bisons
Manager and GM Fritsche

6th June 2012

A very important series around the 2nd placed Cardinals (1.0 game back). On the paper they are a much better team than we are and with probably pitching matchups even sweep us. But so far we show no signs of getting cold after our sensational start to the season.

Before game 1 we activate CF Jeremy Reed (.232, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 5 SB) from the DL, while CF Felipe Javier (.294, 1 HR, 6 RBI) makes the trip back to Regina. Reed might have lost his every day job, after a string of great performances by Nate McLouth (.300, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 3 SB).

Winnipeg at St. Louis: 2-4

W: W. Watkins (3-1
); L: J. Stinson (3-4)
SV: R. Owen (10)
HR: J. Rodriguez (8) / A. Pujols (8), C. Rasmus (14), K. Duffy (2)

PoG: W. Watkins - 8.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 10 K

Time: 2:28

Kind of strange game in which we blew the lead with two outs in the 7th. That Watkins guy looks scary and could be one of the most dominating pitchers of the game for years to come.

Elsewhere:

Blue Jays
3B Jeff Baker (.296, 11 HR, 36 RBI) had 5 hits in at 13-11 win over Colorado.

The Royals (!) closer Jonathan Papelbon (5-4-14, 3.55 ERA) signed a new 1-year deal worth $5,630,000.
