HW: Rocky Marciano 10-0 (9) vs Andy Walker 6-5 (3), 8 rounds
The hard-hitting and free-swinging young heavyweight prospect Rocky Marciano takes on no-name Andy Walker, in what is expected to be a very short lived fight.
Round 1
Marciano didn't take long to land his first big shot, a hard right to the body. Walker weather the initial storm though. Later in the round, Marciano got another big right hook in, this time up top. He follows that up with a short right hand that send Walker down. When Walker got up, Marciano followed with a couple of big shots to end the round. 10-8 Rocky Marciano
Round 2
Walker opens the round by landing his first shot of the fight, a quick jab. Both fighters landed a little here and there, until Marciano got in a big uppercut to finish the round in style. 20-17 Rocky Marciano
Round 3
Walker keeps giving a good account of himself by working well the body. Marcianos power is not for fun though, and a couple of big shots send him to the floor for the second time. Walker got up, wobbly though, but managed to survive the round. 30-25 Rocky Marciano.
Round 4
As it seemed obvious that Walker was tiring out, Marciano cleverly worked the body to make Walker go to the canvas again. Walker made it up again, though in a display of great courage. Marciano just kept on landing, and a big right hand got him down for the fourth time, this time for the full ten count.
Rocky Marciano KO 4 Andy Walker
"The Brockton Blockbuster" proved his incredible power once again, and improves to 11-0 with 10 KOs and an incredible 31 knockdowns in those fights. He is now ranked #5 in the heavyweight division.
LHW: Tommy Yarosz 23-1 (5) vs Lance Akhurst 12-10-3 (6), 10 rounds
The light-heavyweight #1, Tommy Yarosz, is in for his second schedule 10-round bout of his career. Yarosz has incredible speed, fantastic counterpunching and a great skill set. Akhurst has had losing efforts against Jack A. Johnson and Leonard Morrow as his most noteable efforts.
Round 1
Yarosz lands at an incredible rate and is extremely busy, fast and accurate in big 1st round for him. 10-9 Tommy Yarosz
Round 2
More of the same. Yarosz is looking very strong here. 20-18 Tommy Yarosz
Round 3
Akhurst comes out with intensity in the 3rd as he really gives it his all, but still loses the round and even seems to tire out in the process. 30-27 Tommy Yarosz
Round 4
Akhurst is cut from an accidental headbutt. The referee and the ringside doctor takes a quick look at the cut and decides to let the fight go on. The round is more of the same, with Yarosz landing at will and Akhurst not landing at all. 40-36 Tommy Yarosz
Round 5
Yarosz kept at it, moving well, scoring with ease. 50-45 Tommy Yarosz
Round 6
Same story, boxing lesson. 60-54 Tommy Yarosz
Round 7
Still great focus from Yarosz who is an impossible target. 70-63 Tommy Yarosz
Round 8
Yarosz doesn't do much, but still enough. 80-72 Tommy Yarosz
Round 9
Yarosz dominates the round, when the referee decides to take another look at the cut that has blood running down Akhursts face. He calls the fight to a halt, and as there are more than 4 rounds in the books we are going to the cards early.
The cards read: 79-73, 80-72 and 79-73 all for Yarosz.
Tommy Yarosz remains on top of the light-heavyweight division and improves his record to 24-1 (5) with an impressive perfomance.
