I think you are correct about the rules, if the play on the batter would have been the 3rd out, except for the error. IOW, the run would not have scored except for the error. Otherwise, I believe the batter would get the RBI -- just has he would have gotten the RBI if he'd been thrown out. A safe hit is not required in order to get credited with an RBI (as also in the case if he had bunted or hit a fly ball to the OF).
10.04 (a) Credit the batter with a run batted in for every run which reaches home base because of the batter's safe hit, sacrifice bunt, sacrifice fly, infield out or fielder's choice; or which is forced over the plate by reason of the batter becoming a runner with the bases full (on a base on balls, or an award of first base for being touched by a pitched ball, or for interference or obstruction).
(2) Credit a run batted in for the run scored when, before two are out, an error is made on a play on which a runner from third base ordinarily would score.
If you have seen the game give a batter the RBI on an error with two outs, it would be great if you could post a screen shot. If the game is getting that wrong, I'm pretty confident that Markus would fix it at the next reasonable opportunity.

Yes, indeed the play happened when there were two outs. So no RBI should be awarded.
With all due respect, I'm not sure what kind of screenshot I could provide other than just the box score, which shows that the batter was credited with 4 RBI during the particular game I'm referencing. IIRC, he had a two-run base hit earlier in the game, and then this two-run error. The game log, alternatively, does not specify if an RBI is awarded.
If this box score would help, please let me know and I can try to post it.
