Main Event (live)
FW: Willie "Will O' the Wisp" Pep 25-0 (16) vs Ray Ramon Alva 16-8-1 (5), 10 rounds
The brilliant Willie Pep, p4p #1, fights his third ever 10 rounder against mexican journeyman Ray Ramon Alva,
Round 1
Pep scores with short quick punches and this looks like a mismatch already. 10-9 Willie Pep.
Round 2
His speed is blinding at times, in another easy round for Pep. 20-18 Willie Pep
Round 3
Pep is very focused and disciplined, but in this kind of fight it probably wouldn't hurt him to cut loose a bit more, and the crowd seems to think this too. 30-27 Willie Pep.
Round 4
Alva gets in one of his very few punches, but Pep shows his counterpunching skills as he rips home a hook that sends Alva to the canvas for a 4-count. Pep got in some more punches, but couldn't finish it off. 40-35 Willie Pep
Round 5
Pep is handing out a beating here. It seems pointless to keep this fight going. Almost a 2-point round for Pep. 50-44 Willie Pep
Round 6
It almost seems like Pep wants this to go on as he lands at will, but for the most part just moves in and out, confusing Alva. 60-53 Willie Pep
Round 7
Alvas best round, still an easy one for Pep. 70-62 Willie Pep
Round 8
A beating. 80-71 Willie Pep
Round 9
Pep takes a breather for the full 3 minutes and as such the round is even. 90-81 Willie Pep
Round 10
Pep lands a couple of big shots, but Alva hangs on. 100-90 Willie Pep
Official scorecards read: 100-89, 100-89 and 99-90 all for Willie Pep.
Easy win, that shows his great skill and speed. Willie Pep is still #1 in the featherweights, and p4p as he improves his record to 26-0 with 16 knockouts.
