Pedro Feliz is terrible, so adding Beltre would at the worst keep them at the same level at third base, even if he hits at or below the level he did this year. Of course, I dunno why they'd want to spend that kind of money on him when there has to be someone in AAA who could come up and play as well as either of them.
I think if they're looking for an older third baseman with potential upside in free agency they'd be better off with Polanco, if he files.
Edit: On a related note, they'll never do this, but I wish they'd make a serious attempt at Holliday.
