Opening Round Matches

(#1) George LaBlanche 47-26-4 (17) vs. (#16) Alan Minter 45-28-5 (22) 1DQ

George LaBlanche is a former MW Champion with 12 successful title defenses (10-0-2) and has a 11-2-2 record in title bouts. LaBlanche earned the #1 seed by holding the title at the end of the regular season, but lost the belt to Tony Chiaverini in the Playoffs. This is his 2nd appearance in the EOY Tournament and has a 0-1 tournament record. Alan Minter lost his only chance at the MW title to Steve Belloise. He makes his 3rd consecutive appearance in the EOY Tournament and has a 0-2 tournament record. Teammates LaBlanche and Minter have never faced each other.

Round 8: Nice rebound for LaBlanche. He wins round easily
ROund 9: LaBlanche picks up the pace and starts landing effectively

Round 11: Actions slows, but it controlled by LaBlanche. Minter's left eye swelling increases and is bothering him
Round 12: Minter is busier and takes round
Round 13: Strong round for LaBlanche. Minter's swollen left eye is substantially worse
Round 14: Minter's swelling left eye getting really bad, but he takes the round
Round 15: LaBlanche finishes strong

Round 5: LaBlanche is fighting on his heels. Good round for Minter
Round 6: Minter takes round off
Round 7: LaBlanche swarms and pounds Minter all over ring. Ref stops round 5 seconds early - saving Minter
Round 8: Good round for Minter
Round 9: LaBlanche warned for kidney punches. LaBlanche goes all-out. Ref warns LaBlanche for low blow. Minter knocks down LaBlanche and the ref reaches 10-count after bell rings.

Artie Towne gets his first shot at the MW Title here in the EOY Tournament. He makes his 3rd consecutive appearance in the EOY Tournament with a 1-2 tournament record. Frank Wissenbach is the defending MW Champion who has made only 1 defense of the title against Kelly Pavlik and retained the belt after the bout was called a draw. He is 1-0-1 in title bouts. Wissenbach makes his 3rd consecutive appearance in the EOY Tournament with a 1-2 tournament record. Towne and Wissenbach have never met.

Round 1: Good opening round for Wissenbach. Towne did absolutely nothing
Round 2: Towne lands a devastating cross to drop Wissenbach for a 9-count. Towne presses the attack for the rest of the round
Round 3: Strong round for Towne, but Wissenbach seems to have recovered
Round 4: Close pick'em round
Round 5: Towne in full attack mode. Wissenbach does little. Towne is visibly winded at the bell
Round 6: Close round with Towne a bit busier
Round 7: Big round for Wissenbach. Wissenbach finally showing some life on his punches
Round 8: Good round for Towne. Ref lectures Towne about using his head to butt Wissenbach, but no one in the arena seems to know what he's talking about
Round 9: Close round with Towne a bit busier
Round 10: Towne goes all-out and smashed Wissenbach all around the ring. Towne warned by ref for low blows. Wissenbach's left eye balloons shut. Wissenbach stares blankly around as he staggers back to his corner
Round 11: Wissenbach comes out swinging - making his last stand. Towne drops Wissenbach again for a 9-count. Towne pounces on unsteady Wissenbach and the ref stops the fight at the 1:57 mark

Charles Turner makes his 2nd consecutive EOY Tournament appearance and has a 2-1 tournament record. Turner has never fought for the MW Title. He heads into this match riding a 6 fight win streak. Olson is a former 2-time MW Champion with 9 successful defenses under his belt - 8 wins and 1 draw. He is 9-2-1 in title bouts. Olson makes his 2nd consecutive appearance in the EOY Tournament with a 0-1-1 tournament record. Turner and Olson have never fought

Round 2: Another slow round. Turner did a bit more
Round 3: Huge round for Olson
Round 4: Huge round for Turner. Olson has left eye swelling
Round 5: Olson opens up and scores 2 big knockdowns (8-count and 3-count) Turner barely survives round
Round 6: Huge round for Turner. Olson's left eye almost closed
Round 7: Turner goes all-out. Scores quick knockdown (Olson up at 2) Turner applies pressure. Olson is defenseless. Ref stops fight at 1:58 mark

Jermain Taylor enters his 3rd consecutive EOY Tournament with a 5-2 tournament record. He lost the Season 2 EOY Tournament final to Michael Nunn. He also lost in his only MW Title bout to Carl Olson by 7th round stoppage due to cuts. Billy Papke makes his 2nd consecutive appearance in the EOY Tournament with a 1-1-1 tournament record. He is a former MW Champion who lost the belt to Tony Ayala Jr in his 1st defense. Papke has a 1-1-2 record in title bouts. Taylor and Papke have never fought

Round 1: Good opening round for Taylor. Papke does nothing
Round 2: Taylor scores a big knockdown. Papke up at count of 7
Round 3: Papke wakes up and wins round
Round 4: Big round for Papke. Taylor is cut over right eyebrow, but does not seem to be in a bad spot
Round 5: Action packed round won by Papke. Taylor's right eye now starts swelling
Round 6: Taylor takes round off. Papke easily carries action
Round 7: Good round for Taylor. Ref warns Taylor to stop holding and hitting
Round 8: Nice round for Papke
Round 9: Even round until Taylor scores a knockdown. Papke up at 6 but appears hurt
Round 10: Papke starts round strong. Cut over Taylor's right eye is reopened and now appears to be a bad gash. Blood trickles into Taylors eye. Ref stops action and consults the ringside doctor who says Taylor cannot continue. Ref stops the fight.

Round 4: Very close round. Swelling under Belloise's right eye getting worse
Round 5: Another close round. Belloise's right eye is an ugly mess. Ayala Jr is hurt by an uppercut at end of round
Round 6: Big round for Belloise. More swelling of Belloise's right eye which is now affecting his vision. Ayala Jr's left eye starts to swell
Round 7: Solid round for Belloise
Round 8: Ayala Jr opens up strong and has a good round, but cut over Ayala Jr's left eye reopens and the swelling of that left eye gets worse
Round 9: Ayala Jr looks to be in control. Belloise's right eye is almost closed
Round 10: Almost no action for 2 minutes. Belloise finally lands a good shot on Ayala Jr's left eye which immediately swells badly. Combination from Belloise drops Ayala Jr. Ref counts him out at 2:53 of the round

Round 9: Swelling of Nunn's eye is affecting his vision. Graziano drops Nunn again for an 8-count. Nunn is in survival mode
Round 10: Nunn starts round on shaky legs. Nunn's punches have lost all steam and he cannot hold off Graziano. Graziano lands a huge hook and knocks down Nunn again. Ref reaches count of 10 @ 1:02 of round
