I would like to see the AI actively seek trading partners for top players it wants/needs to dump, both at trading deadline time but also other times (such as to combat a cash shortage).
The game can put the player on the trading block - though it doesn't often do so in my experience - but that only engages other teams on a one-on-one basis. To make the game more fun, when a top player goes on the market, teams should, in essence, declare themselves in the race. For fans of FM, it should work a lot like late transfer window shuffling works in that game, though obviously it doesn't use any of the same terminology.
