With 4 straight losses to the Phillies and Cubs,the New York Mets have fallen into a 1st place tie with the Cardinals.

After two straight wins against Pittsburgh,the Cardinals promptly dropped two straight to the red hot Phillies,but still managed to claim a share of first place in the NL East

With two straight wins over the Expos,the Pittsburgh Pirates remained alive,climbing to within 3 games of both New York and St Louis

The Texas Rangers took two of three from the Twins,to move within 2 games of first place in the AL West
