Sammy Kelly (16-5-0)(2)(Ch) SD12 Solly Smith (20-5-3)(10)(H)

Kelly enters the big time!

Sammy Kelly (below) successfully made the transition into the top ten of his division and became American Featherweight Champion.

He fought a measured fight against the rough and tough Solly Smith, gaining a close decision which was helped by a flash eighth round knockdown.

The fight was close throughout but it was Kell's good lead lead left and stiff counter that proved the difference between the two men.
