Middeweight
Harry 'Dummy' Mace (17-1-0)(16) TKO8 Charles Turner (11-1-0)(11)
Turner (right) had swept aside all his previous opponents when he stepped in the ring with Mace (left).
The pair stood toe to toe for eight rounds and battered each other to a pulp, there was little attention paid to defence and this appeared to suit the Australian brawler.
Turner appeared to be 'out on his feet' when Mace landed a crushing right uppercut halfway through the eighth round. The American found himself on the canvas for the first time in his career, he bravely rose to his feet at the nine count but the referee had seen enough.
