April 23rd- Dodgers-7 Giants-4
CF Ken Landreaux went 2 for 5 with a 3 run homer,while RF Pedro Guerrero added 2 RBI doubles,as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants 7-4 here at "The Stick". Starting pitcher Jerry Reuss twirled 7 solid innings,allowing 4 runs on 9 hits,while walking 1 and striking out 4,Steve Howe picked up the save.For the Giants,every one of their 8 starters had at least 1 hit,but the ineffectiveness of starter Bill Laskey,who allowing 6 runs on 7 hits and 5 walks over 6 innings pitched was just too much to overcome.

April 24th- Giants-3 Dodgers-2 (12 Innings)
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th,the Giants tied the game on a Johnnie Lemaster RBI sac fly,sending the game to extra innings,where in the bottom of the 12th,Giants 1B Bob Brenly sent the fans home happy,with an RBI single off of Dodgers reliever Tom Niedenfuer to give San Francisco the 3-2 win.Steve Sax and Pedro Guerrero each had RBI hits for the Dodgers.

April 25th- Dodgers-6 Giants-5
Down 5-2 after five,the Dodgers stormed back,getting a solo homer from Rick Monday in the 6th,followed by back to back RBI singles by Ken Landreaux and Ron Cey in the 8th,which put the Dodgers ahead to stay,as they went on to defeat the Giants 6-5.Relievers Ricky Wright and Vicente Romo combined to hold the Giants scoreless over the final two frames.

Pirates 1B Jason Thompson suffered a bruised shoulder in a collision with Cubs catcher Jody Davis on Monday,he'll be out for about 2 weeks.

Phillies starters Steve Carlton and Larry Christenson tossed back to back shutouts at the Cardinals this weekend,on their way to taking 2 of 3 in the series.

Dodgers SS Derrel Thomas tore his ACL on Saturday and is done for the season.Recovery is expected to take about 9 months.

The Baltimore Orioles have signed star RF Ken Singleton to a 3 year contract extension worth a total of $6,190,000

Veteran reliever Kent Tekulve and the Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed on a 3 year contract extension worth $745,000 per season.

The Cincinnati Reds have traded 25 year old pitcher Charlie Liebrandt to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for 26 year old catcher Chris Bando
