May 4-Tim Naehring went 2-4 with a homerun and three RBI and Chuck Carr continued his hot start to the season, going 3-3 with a stolen base as Boston beat up on Seattle, 9-2, splitting the two game series. May 5-Troy Neel had a monster game, going 4-5 with a double, homerun and five RBI, and Brent Gates went 2-4 with three runs scored and two RBI as Oakland knocked around Danny Darwin and the Red Sox, 9-5. Darwin fell to 1-4 on the year, giving up 10 hits and seven runs, six earned in seven innings of work and Scott Cooper lead the Boston attack, going 3-4 with a homerun and two RBI in a losing cause. May 6-Roger Clemens was dominant for eight innings, giving up just four hits and one run, walking three and striking out six, and Chuck Carr, John Valentin and Mike Greenwell each went 2-4 with an RBI as Boston took the second game of the series, beating Oakland 6-1. (15-13)

The Philadelphia Phillies have resigned two key members of their team this week as they came to two years deals worth $2.3 million dollar deal with LHP Terry Mulholland and $5.4 million with 3B Dave Hollins. On the year, Mulholland has struggled, going 1-4 with a 1-3 with a 4.88 ERA while Hollins is hitting .316 with four homeruns and 21 RBI.

Houston Astros have signed All-Star reliever Xavier Hernandez to a new three year contract, that will see the 27 year old paid just over $5.1 million dollars. Hernandez broke out last year, going 9-1 with a 2.77 ERA and seven saves for the Astros. He is currently 3-0 with a 3.55 ERA and three saves.
