May 7-Kevin Reimer hit a sacrifice fly with one out in the bottom of the ninth off Paul Quantrill, scoring Bill Spiers, giving the Brewers the 4-3 win over Boston. Cal Eldred went the distance for the Brewers, allowing eight hits and two runs, walking three and striking out four, picking up the win. Greg Vaughn lead the Milwaukee offense, going 3-4 three RBI, while Tony Pena had a two run single for Boston. (15-14)

May 8-Jeff Russell threw a groundball into right field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, allowing Greg Vaughn to score and give the Brewers their second straight win in their final at bat, beating Boston, 3-2. Aaron Sele picked up a hard luck no decision, going 8 1/3 innings, giving up just four hits and two runs, one earned, striking out six. (15-15)

May 9-Mike Greenwell went 2-4 with a double and two RBI, and Frank Viola pitched eight innings in his first start in two weeks as Boston avoided the sweep, beating Milwaukee, 3-2. Viola scattered seven hits and just one walk, striking out three, winning his 3rd game of the year. (16-15)

May 10-Roger Clemens pitched eight innings of two run ball, striking out eight and Billy Hatcher lead the Boston offense, going 2-5 with three RBI as the Red Sox beat up on Baltimore, 9-3. John Valentin went 2-5 with two RBI and Mo Vaughn added two hits and three runs scored in the win. (17-15)

May 12-George Brett, recently traded from Kansas City to Baltimore, hit a three run homerun and Jack Voigt added a bases clearing double as Baltimore took two of three from Boston, hammering the Red Sox, 9-2. Arthur Rhodes pitched 8 1/3 innings, giving up 10 hits and just two runs, walking one and striking out eight, improving to 3-0 on the year. (17-17)

As noted above the Kansas City Royals have traded long time fan favorite 3B George Brett to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for 28 year old 2B Mark McLemore. On the year, Brett was hitting .382 (13-34) 3-9, playing primarily in a backup-pinch hitting role. With the Orioles, he will start as DH while McLemore was hitting .209 0-10 for the Orioles, starting at 2B for both teams.

Curt Schilling and the Philadelphia Phillies have come to terms on a new two year contract worth $6.6 million dollars. The 26 year old Schilling is 5-2 with a 3.07 ERA in 8 starts for the Phillies. He has pitched 58 2/3 innings, giving up 50 hits, walking 19 and striking out 56.
