I don't visit these forums very often, so I'm sorry if this has been mentioned already, but I'd like to see more of a change to the core of the game. Sure the small stuff like mass selecting and user interface upgrades are nice touches, but I'd rather see an overhaul to the trading system.
If I set difficulty level to default, it makes the game too easy and I get bored quickly and walk away from the game. I set it to very hard, what's the point? I get no responses to any of my players that I put on the block.
Some trades should be difficult, while others not so much. As a baseline, If I put a 2 star player up on the trading block, I would expect other GM's offer me players they consider 2 stars in return. However, if I'm trying to get a talented player, I should have to give up the farm to get him.
I think it could be a little more dynamic even. For instance, a team that's in first place by the start of July might be less likely to give up a star player then they would have in May. So, in order to make a trade happen with this team, you would have to give up a more minor league talent than you would have a month earlier. As the month closes on the trading deadline, it would get even harder to pull a trade for the player or maybe he's untouchable at that point. This team turns into a buyer itself and is now offering you talent for one of your stars so they can make a playoff run.
Perhaps, you would also see an increase in trades at the deadline for talented players whose contracts are about to expire. Small market teams who can't afford to resign their talent are trying to cash in on the desperation of playoff bound teams.
Is there anyway a change like this can be made? Trading is at the heart of this game. If this could be nailed down, this game would be incredible. Don't get me wrong, the game is pretty awesome now, but I usually only play this game in small doses with large breaks in between because I get bored rather quickly due to the balance of (or lack thereof) the trading system.
The only new feature of OOTP 11 that interests me is the amatuer draft changes as all I do is sim. I'm not into the historical stuff either.
