Sorry that it has taken so long to get back to you on this query. My recollection on this is that the text file for the game log is used to generate the html on the fly in the game so that less space is taken up with thousands of potential game logs.
I'm downloading an almanac for one of my online leagues to see if I can recreate the problem.
