Fairfax's Wesner Acclaimed TU MVP
It's has been a season that Dane Wesner will never forget. The Fairfax star left fielder led the Islandian Pro Alliance in batting average, homers, hits and RBIs. Not only did he win the Triple Crown, Wesner captured the TU Golden Bat as the league's best batter, but he also won the prestigious Most Valuable Player Award. Wesner was awarded that trophy today by BNN in a poll of the Islandian media.
Wesner had a fantastic year with a .383 average, 46 home runs, 146 RBIs and 218 hits. The Frog outfielder is a .339 lifetime hitter in his 6 years in the IPA. The 25-year-old Wesner is the second player to hit for the Triple Crown. East Point's Karol Zodoka was the first to do it in 2002.
Two pitchers battled Wesner for the honor. Mila Mohoski of Denton City was second in the voting. Mohoski was 26-11 with a 2.54 ERA. Coming in third was Nicky Engstrom of Turon. Engstrom won Rookie of the Year in the Tycobbian Union as he chalked up a fine 20-7 record and an impressive 2.40 ERA in his first season in the IPA.
