I had to decide on what to do with Damaso Marte, Anderson Hernandez, Jerry Gil, and Alexis Gomez. Arbitration is tomorrow. Having no minor league depth, I offered all of them a contract.
Marte- $2.74M. This is his current salary. I'm starting to think I should have just met his demands instead of quibbling over a few hundred thousand dollars. We'll see.
Hernandez- I'm offering him $648K which is a pay cut.
Gill- $400K which is a 20K raise.
Gomez- $620K which is the same as last year. We'll see how this goes. I'm new to it afterall but I have a bad feeling gong into it.

The arbitration decisions are in.
Marte wins but only asked for $60K more than I offered.
Hernadez wins getting over $200K than I offered.
Gomez loses getting $180 less than he wanted.
Gil won getting $400K more than I offered.
These all worked out fine, except for Gil who is overpaid, furious and not very good. Whatever, it'll all work out.
Free agents file in 2 days, then I will really be able to look at this team and start to tackle some of the remaining holes.
