What I do is switch to the team that offered me that player and then shop him. If I see a player there listed that I could use I go back to my team and re-shop the player and make the trade. Then I shop the player I just traded for. I've only done this a few times but it has always worked. Granted it is not an elegant way of doing it but it is a workaround.
