I think I had the original Title Bout from 1980 or so... Still have it (and a later update).

The biggest upset I ever had was Tommy Farr beating Jack Dempsey. It went all 15 rounds, and Dempsey could never win rounds outright. It always seemed like Dempsey was missing a ton of punches and only winning the scoring of a round by scores like 13 - 8 or 10 - 6. Farr kept getting judges breaks in the early rounds, and when it was over he was the new champion.

At the time, I had set up my own sort of "league" for heavyweights and a system for fighters to age after 15 years, 20 years, and 25 years. Fighters were active in the league the years they were active in real life. I started in about 1890 (Peter Jackson was the first champ), and got to about - oh - 1945 or so before I gave it up. Tunney could never beat Dempsey (one draw though), and was only champ for a short period when he beat Farr the next year.

Champs could "select" an easy defense in the top ten as the first fight of the year, other fighters moved around based on the whim of the promotor (me) - though it was based on wins and losses from the previous year. The second championship fight was against the mandatory #1 (who had to defend his slot, too), and the final championship fight came out of an eight man tournament at the end of the year.

Finally, in the first year of activity, new fighters got to take on six wimps in four or six round fights (I created wimp cards of varying wimpiness), and in the second year four more against "sorta wimps" (eight rounds) before trying to break in the rankings. Rankings were as full as there were available fighters in a given year. I can't remember a wimp or sorta wimp beating any fighter of significance (though Jess Willard got off the floor to win one against a wimp in the 6th round, and Primo Carnera got beat by a sorta wimp in an eight round fight).

When the new game comes out, I hope to start over since I have a larger collection of information about fighters outside of the top ten for a number of years...
