With the Cooperstown season ready to begin and the greatest to ever play taking the field, the rivalries and direct challenges to some fo baseball's deepest questions are ready to be answered. Here are some of the most intriguing rivalries as the season starts:
BABE RUTH vs BARRY BONDS
Who really is the home run king? Barry Bonds has all the questions of PED looming over his head but on a baseball field only one man can really rival him, and that would be King Ruth. Ruth and Bonds will battle for the true single season home run record and with one being so beloved and the other being so dispised, the rivalry is truly galactic.
TY COBB vs PETE ROSE
With their personalities being so over the top and their confidence being so high, these two players will literly fight for every win. The two of them will be among the leaders in hits for the season and Cobb definately is out to prove that he will win the batting title and prove that Rose was not the player he was. Make no mistake, both of these men would run over their mothers if they had a chance to take an extra base.
RICKEY HENDERSON vs LOU BROCK
When Rickey broke the record for career stolen bases he said with confidence that he was the greatest of all time. Now Henderson will have to put his words to the test as Lou Brock will have his chance to outsteal him. Henderson will have a stiff challenge not just from Brock, but from Cobb and others like Maury Wills. Who is the real Man of Steal?
WALTER JOHNSON vs NOLAN RYAN
Who is the hardest thrower to ever pitch and who is the ultimate intimidator? A number of pitchers will have a ton of strikeouts, but it seems as if Ryan and Johnson are the two legends that did it better then anyone and revolutionized the craft. Does Johnson throw hard enough to compete in the modern era?
