Orioles Score 20 In Win

The Baltimore Orioles were in no mood in getting swept in the opening series of the season especially while playing at home. The Orioles wasted no time at Camden Yards on this night against Texas and had 10 runs after only two innings. Baltimore would smash five home runs on this night and would end with 18 hits and 20 runs.

Roy Oswalt was the pitcher on the mound for Texas that had very little and allowed eight runs in 1.3 innings pitched. Eddie Murray hit two home runs and drove in three while Brooks Robinson went 4-6 with two RBI of his own. Mike Cueller didnt have great stuff for the Orioles either and left the game in the third inning, he had 20 runs scored by his offense and didnt get the win.

McGwire Slams A's To Win

The Kansas City Royals had nowhere to put Mark McGwire in the 11th inning of their game with the Oakland A's. McGwire came up with the bases loaded and Joakim Soria came at him with a fastball. McGwire drilled the pitch out over the left field wall and the A's won a tight game to take the rubber game of this series.

Rickey Henderson scored three runs and drove in another two while Ed Joost walked three times and also went deep. Vida Blue and Kevin Appier didnt have much of their stuff and the battle in this one came down to the bullpens which went the way of Oakland.

On a side note Jose Canseco is batting .600 and is the best after the first three games of the season.

Mitch Williams Takes Over Closer Role

The Philadelphia Phillies had to make some changes to their bullpen plans due to an injury this week. Brad Lidge the closer for the Phils will miss close to two months with a slight tear in his shoulder and manager Gene Mauch will have to replace him.

Williams the new closer

Mitch Williams is the man for the job currently getting it over Steve Bedrosian. Williams will have his chance and we will see if he lives up to his billing of the "Wild Thing" moving forward. The Phillies have started their season 1-2 after losing to the Cubs.
