Red Sox Show Muscle

Just as the Yankees did yesturday, the Boston Red Sox broke out their bats and won a big game in Kansas City 17-8 behind 20 hits. Big Papi David Ortiz went 3-6 with 6 RBI inlcuding a grand slam.

Ortiz 6 RBI

Wade Boggs also rerouted a slow start going 5-6 and scoring three runs proving that his bat is just fine. Through the first four games of the season for the Sox however the leader at the plate is none other then Bobby Doerr who is hitting .667 with 10 hits in 15 at bats.

"It is so easy to hit in this lineup" said Doerr after the statement win by the Sox.

Caldwell One Hitter

Mike Caldwell of the Milwuakee Brewers made the most of his spot start on Thursday against the New York Mets and had everyone watching. Caldwell had a no hitter going into the into the 8th inning before Bobby Bonila finally doubled to break the drama. Bonilla would later score but the Brewers were able to hand the Mets their first loss of the season.

Gorman Thomas hit a three run home run to pace Caldwell as the big center fielder can hit a fastball a long way as Jerry Koosman found out.

Grudge Series in Motown

No series has more attention then the Yankees weekend series at Tiger Stadium against the Tigers. Joe DiMaggio had his best game of the short season going 3-5 with a go ahead home run as the Yankees scored four runs in the last two innings to take game one of this series.

Everyone knows that Ty Cobb has it in for Ruth and the Yankees and when the centerfielder hit a two run home run in the sixth inning off Andy Pettite, it looked as it may have been his night. The Yankees however came and bit Denny McLain late as Billy Martin decided not to go to his bullpen earlier.
