I could be wrong but I thought that this was a rule:

starting pitcher A - throws 6 innings and leaves with a 9 -2 lead.

relief pitcher B - throws 4 innings (finishing the game) and the final is 9 -5.

pitcher A gets a win but pitcher B gets nothing.

I thought that if a pitcher came in and pitched 3 innings and finished the game, the pitcher was entitled to a save. is that incorrect?

I know if they pitch one inning with 3 runs or less lead...it's a save too.
